Satellite (dedicated and best effort)

Satellite internet access is a type of Internet connection that uses satellites orbiting the Earth to provide best effort broadband service, particularly in remote or rural areas where traditional wired or fixed wireless connections or fiber optic are unavailable. It works by transmitting data between a satellite dish installed at the user's location and a satellite in space, which then relays the signal to a ground station connected to the internet.

While satellite Internet can offer broad coverage and is essential for reaching underserved regions, it often has higher latency and lower speeds compared to other forms of internet access and is directly susceptible to weather making it less ideal for real-time applications like video conferencing, VOIP, Unified Communications as a Service, or online gaming.
